A central Alberta man has pleaded guilty to six charges in connection with the abduction and brutal sexual assault of a teenage girl earlier this year.
Gerard John Baumgarte was emotional as he pleaded guilty Tuesday in a Red Deer courtroom to charges that include kidnapping, assault with a weapon, sexual assault and impersonating a peace officer.
Court heard that Baumgarte, who will be sentenced at a later date, dressed as a peace officer and abducted the 16-year-old girl in Penhold last February.
She escaped two days later and was found at a shopping mall in Red Deer.
