Plan to revamp downtown west-end forges ahead

Now that the City of Calgary has abandoned efforts to host the 2017 Expo, focus will shift to revamping the west end of the downtown core.
The multi-million dollar plan, over two decades, includes redevelopment land between the Greyhound Bus Terminal and the current Telus World of Science, which will soon move into its new home near the Calgary Zoo.
"This is a 25-30 year vision," said Mayor Dave Bronconnier. "It's not something that would occur overnight."
Bronconnier says the project would provide a return of up to $470 million, paying for itself as a stand alone project.
