Up Up And Away!

Glued today to the balloon coverage. Caught this one segment on CNN:
RICK: This is Rick Sanchez, CNN host of the Sanchez Report, with breaking news. We have live video of a helium balloon currently drifting through the skies of Colorado and reports say a tow-headed young boy is on-board. We believe the child is a mischievious little fella with a cow's lick and freckles around his nose. He's just darned adorable and therefore we have decided to take this coverage to 9/11 levels with dramatic music and colourful graphics.....
CNN: BALLOON OVER COLORADO.
RICK: Rick Sanchez again, we've got Air Force Retired General Tom Mara on the line, General, is there a chance this adorable little scamp may have designs on disrupting America's domestic peace or is this just a case of CNN, CBC, CP24, MSNBC, CTV NewsNet and The Game Show network following a deflating bag of mylar with an empty basket?
GENERAL TOM: We can only pray to the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ that this little scamp with untied Keds and a smirk on his face is either not in the balloon or has a few hours of ground and air school.
RICK: As always on the Sanchez show we welcome Twitter, Facebook, Friendster, Xanga and SMS text feeds from half drunk college students who've skipped afternoon classes to comment...we have one Tweet from New York and MunchMe69 who asks what the difference is between the Dow Jones and a six year old in a Colorado balloon....apparently the answer is that you can expect the Dow Jones to bounce. MunchMe69, I've just RSS'd that feed to my Digg account, thank you.
UNKNOWN ATTRACTIVE WOMAN NEXT TO RICK: Goodness, we've just been told that the six year old, who probably had pockets full of candy in his pants, may in fact have never been in the balloon! Which makes me happy but has my producer drinking straight out of the bottle!
RICK: That's what Twitter subscriber BYTE-ME posted to my CNN Facebook page....he suggests the whole event was staged by the Denver National Guard to distract us all from Obama's health care debate! By the way people, if the balloon lands we will show it only on a delayed feed and blackout the money shot just in case they have to remove the little tyke's remains with curse words and a toothbrush.
SAME WOMAN: Rick, we're all wondering if perhaps little Falcon has embarked on an airborne journey that will see him arrive safely in a land where water is chocolate and birds walk while people fly??
RICK: That would be one of the best outcomes, unidentified attractive woman. We all as a nation can pray. Wait, we have pictures.....they're tearing the balloon to pieces with pitchforks to remove the evil helium. Aw shit, the basket's empty....

Mike, reminds me of the time AM640 had some woman at Markham airport reporting a plane was in distress because the landing gear would not deploy. She literally yelled over the airways, that she was running to the other end of the runway as, in her estimation the plane was flying way too fast for a safe landing. That flash news cast has to go down in history as the funniest, on air live news cast of all times

Just imagine if the balloon had plunged to the earth after a massive deflation and smashed itself into a million pieces live on TV. Do the cameras turn away? You're a betting man Mike, I say no freaking way. On the other hand I heard on the radio from an unknown reporter that she wasn't sure if the altitude was 7,000 feet above terra firma or above sea level. I love live reporting.
