To Your Health

David Caplan's quitting as Health Minister and Smitherman, who sat in the fat chair longer, should be politically dead too. And darts and evil eyes to every other politican over the past twenty years in the Health Ministry seat.
One BILLION dollars.
Think of it. With all the controversy south of the border over adopting a universal user-pay health system like Canada's, how can anybody in this province who pays taxes ON TOP OF the McGuinty Health Tax accept the crap we've learned about consultants hiring consultants who work with other consultants just to get their billing topped up?
Who hasn't had a personal example, or a relative's experience or the family story of the nightmare that Ontario's 35 BILLION dollar a year health can be.
Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't.
When you're buying your $100 hospital lottery tickets to buy fluids and machines and, maybe, human help in the system, knowing you're not going to win the house in Vaughan but hoping you'll help the system, how do you feel to know that this freaking system can suck in ONE BILLION dollars, chew it up and result in nothing positive like an MRI machine or a CAT scanner or 100,000 boxes of latex gloves?
Never mind the money we pay out to former hospital CEO's or the unspoken theft that is rampant in hospitals with diapers and wipes and cloths and utilities that head home every day in the bags of workers who nobody will challenge when they leave the job.
Thanks to the auditor general and thanks to David Caplan for falling on the sword.
And a reminder to anybody who thinks George Smitherman would be a good mayor in charge of Toronto's 8-BILLION dollar moneybag.
They should all get sick.
