Bosh's absence glaring as Toronto losses to the Trailblazers, 101-87

It was tough to watch, but at the same time I couldn't take my eyes off the court. Well, I did check the Canada/Russia score a few times but I found my seat much faster then others. It was a game where I found myself waiting for the Raps to break out of the funk. The same way they have broken out and went on scoring tears so many times before. But, it didn't happen. It was like watching a Porsche in rush hour traffic. You're desperately hoping the driver finds a break and floors it. Tonight, that driver stayed in first gear, then ran out of gas. They just couldn't find that next gear. Portland made the Raps play their slow and steady style of basketball and Toronto couldn't break out.

The main issue tonight was turnovers. The Raps finished with 16 of them which were converted for 17 ...

Raps start out slow against the Trailblazers

So, my matchup of the night didn’t even see the light of day. Marcus Camby was scratched right before the game due to a sprained ankle he suffered last night against the New Jersey Nets. My guess is that they didn’t want to risk anything knowing the luck Portland is having with injuries this year.

The turnovers were a little excessive in the first half. The Raps gave up six turnovers in the first quarter, five of which came off steals and It looks even worse knowing that the Blazers gave up none.

The Raps opened the second quarter continuing to pile on the turnovers, adding four more in the first five minutes. Then with 3:32 left in the quarter and Toronto down by 13, Jay Triano calls a 20 sec timeout and the Raps wake up. They go off for a 13-2 run to end the first half trailing ...

Raps without Bosh v.s. Portland

The Raps are back in action tonight but CB4 isn't. It appears that his ankle injury is more serious then originally thought. So, the majority of the low post pressure will sit on the shoulders of Andrea Bargnani. The 7-footer, who moved from center to forward due to Bosh's absence, is averaging 2.5 blocks, over his last six games.

Brandon Roy loves playing against the Raps, he has had 30 points or more in two of his last three games against Toronto. Not to mention that Portland swept last season's two-game series.

Marcus Camby, one of the best aquistions/steals from this year's trade deadline, has fit in well with his new team who desperately needed a solid big man since Greg Oden and Joel Pryzbila went down with season ending knee injuries. Since being traded from the Clippers, Camby has averaged 12.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks with the Blazers. The ...
