Orlando loves the 3 ball
Posted 11/1/2009 6:04:00 PM

The Orlando Magic walked into the ACC and shot their way to a 125-116 win.

Well that’s start with the good:

- Chris Bosh recorded his third straight double double (35 points, 16 rebounds)
- The team shot above 50%
- Turkoglu had 19 points in what was his first real good game. He was aggressive, made good shot selections and executed pick and rolls really well.
- We came back from a 22 point deficit. If this was last season we wouldn't have had a snowballs chance in hell to make a come back like that.

And of course the bad...

- The defense fell apart. They did not control the perimeter, which should be the focus since Orlando lives and dies by the 3 ball. I'm serious, it disappeared. Oh, and Dwight Howard cannot be contained. The Raptors tried, they really did. They would take away his shooters, and he would become a scoring machine. Then they tried to make him work for his points by sending him to the charity stripe a bunch of times, and that didn't work. It was a good idea because Howard is a 50% free throw shooter but tonight he looked like Reggie Miller out their. He could not miss.

- We lost.

- Vince Carter was not in the line up. This is both good and bad. The good it gave Orlando one less weapon. The bad, I wasn't able to hear Raptors fans shower taunts and boos down on him. When Vince Carter visits Toronto, fans act like the Raptors are in the finals. It gets loud.

Looking ahead I think the Raptors are going to wish they could have pulled a win away in Memphis. They play Detroit, New Orleans, Dallas and San Antonio consecutively. Good Luck.

Cheers,
MC
