I didn't have it yesterday on the show. Far from it, in fact.  When it came to talking NHL chief disciplinarian Colin Campbell, I wanted to scream and yell and express my disgust that Marc Savard may never be the same hockey player again, while Matt Cooke (until next Thursday, potentially) pays no price whatsoever for what was obviously a cheapshot.
 
For Campbell or the NHL to claim there's no rule against what Cooke did is ludicrous logic at best, and at worst, it's deceitful. There are no rules against a great deal of things in the NHL, but codes and common sense and decades of practice prevent them from happening.  If you have to make a ruling one way or the other, any kind of "targeting" of the head falls in that category.  That sense and sensibility becomes more pronounced when you factor in a player just got ...

Jamie Samuelsen, ex-Jamie & Brady co-host from WDFN, ex-Detroit Fury play-by-play man, and ex-bass player in Hall & Oates, joins me for a look at the Letterman extortion case (we still aren't quite sure why we didn't plan the same "script as trap" plan for some of our Detroit colleagues), the Oscars, the Simmons/Olbermann feud, and the possibility of Shep joining us in a 3-way, which contrary to rumours on July 20, 2004, the night of my bachelor party, NONE of us participated in.
