Three men have been arrested after two stolen tractor trailers carrying frozen chicken were spotted in Markham and Vaughan.
York Regional Police say officers in Markham observed a tractor trailer in a parking lot at Bur Oak Ave. and Hwy. 48 around 8:30 a.m. Monday.
It had similar features to a tractor trailer previously reported stolen.
When officers approached the vehicle, three men fled on foot. One was arrested at the scene and two continued to flee the area.
41-year-old Varinder Dhillon of Caledon East was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime and obstructing a peace officer.
Around 3 p.m. the same day, officers responded to a report of a stolen tractor trailer in the Hwy. 400 and King Vaughan Rd. area.
The driver did not stop when police attempted to pull the vehicle over at Kirby and Weston Rds.
Police did not pursue the vehicle for public safety concerns.
The tractor trailer had collided with a car at Weston Rd. and Major Mackenzie Dr. E. and was found abandoned on Blaine Crt.
With assistance of officers in Air2 and the Canine Unit, one of the suspects was found breaking into a residence in the area while another was arrested nearby.
36-year-old Ranjit Singh of Toronto faces charges including possession of property obtained by crime, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, break and enter, impaired driving, and possession of heroin.
32-year-old Gurdeep Merwar of Brampton faces charges including possession of property obtained by crime, and obstructing a peace officer.
Officers seized the two stolen tractor trailers loaded with frozen chicken in each encounter.
The investigation continues.
