One person is dead and two people are in hospital with serious injuries after a crash in downtown Toronto Monday night.
Emergency crews were called to Parliament St. and Bloor St. East just before 10 p.m. with a report of a car striking a pole.
Police said a 25-year-old man in the back seat was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition and later succumbed to his injuries.
A 20-year-old woman was also transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and a 23-year old woman suffered minor injuries.
Police said the 23-year-old male driver, identified as Galeeb Abau-Jabeen, faces a number of charges including impaired driving causing death and criminal negligence causing death.
He appeared in court on Tuesday.
A judge ordered Abau-Jabeen to remain in custody until his next appearance on Thursday.
