The first weekend of the annual R.I.D.E. program was a busy one for provincial police.
Over one hundred drivers were charged with impaired offences over the weekend; one of them slammed into the back of a vehicle in Kitchener, killing a 30 year old mother and seriously injuring a 3-month-old baby.
In another case, police pulled over a driver on the QEW near Dixie Road in Mississauga, for stunt driving. Police charged the 29 year old Etobicoke driver with several offences, including operating a vehicle with 80mgs of alcohol in blood.
