Peel police have accused a 38-year-old Mississauga woman of intentionally running over a dog.
According to police, a man was walking his dog on Saturday on Duford drive near Silken Laumann way and Brittania Rd.
The man and his dog were attempting to cross the street when the woman in her car waved the man to cross. As he began to walk the woman accelerated and veered toward the victim and his dog.
The victim was able to escape from the path of the vehicle, but the dog was struck. The dog died from its injuries at the scene.
The woman, Maryam Atia, was charged with dangerous operation of motor vehicle, killing or injuring animals and assault with a weapon on Monday.
She was held for a bail hearing on Tuesday and was remanded in custody until today.
