History has been made in the riding of Niagara West-Glanbrook.
19-year-old Progressive Conservative Sam Oosterhoff has become the youngest ever member of the Ontario legislature after claiming victory in Thursday’s byelection.
He will take the seat left vacant by former Progressive Conservative leader Tim Hudak, who represented the area for 21 years.
Hudak resigned his seat earlier this year to become CEO of the Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA).
Meanwhile, there were no surprises in the riding of Ottawa-Vanier, where Liberal Nathalie Des Rosier was elected.
The riding has been a Liberal stronghold since 1971.
Des Rosier saw off the off the challenge of former Provincial Ombudsman Andre Marin, who ran in the riding for the Progressive Conservatives.
