A report out earlier this year indicated kids still aren’t as active as they could be, and now a new study finds they’re among the least active in the world.
Researchers, who put together the annual ParticipAction Report Card, compared Canada’s youth physical activity record to data from 37 other countries and found kids here placed near the bottom of the list.
It’s estimated only about 9% of kids here, aged five to 17, get the daily recommended minimum of sixty minutes of “heart-pumping activity.”
Elio Atunes, President and CEO of ParticipACTION, joined the show to tell us more about the study and findings:
Who is ultimately responsible for how much our kids exercise? The schools? Parents? Kids themselves? How do we change the culture?
