The search for a missing seven year old girl in a Saskatchewan amber alert case, has ended in tragedy.
The body of Nia Eastman, 7, has been located by RCMP in a Choiceland, Saskatchewan home, 250 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon.
“This was not the outcome all of us were hoping for and our thoughts are with the family and communities.” said RCMP Insp. Jennifer Ebert.
An amber alert was first issued just after 4 a.m. local time on Thursday after Nia was not returned to her mother by her father, Adam Jay Eastman.
At around 10 P.M., police located an empty vehicle believe to have been operated by Eastman on a rural property east of Smeaton near Snowden.
Police found Adam Eastman dead early Thursday morning.
“Investigators located Adam Jay Eastman deceased with apparent self-inflicted injuries on a rural property east of Smeaton.” said RCMP Sgt. Earl LeBlanc.
RCMP don’t believe anyone else was involved and no suspects are being sought.
