Toronto police are trying to figure out what caused a multi-car collision in Rexdale early Sunday morning.
The crash took place near Steeles Avenue, just west of Kipling Avenue.
Authorities say up to five cars were involved in the collision.
An elderly woman was trapped inside one of the vehicles.
She was later rescued by emergency officials and was rushed to hospital to be treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Three other victims were involved, however they escaped the incident with minor injuries.
Police now have the task of figuring out what exactly happened although, early reports indicate high speed may have been a contributing factor.
Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash is being encouraged to contact police.
