A Federal Court Judge declared CSIS had illegally kept data collected during investigations over a 10-year period.
According to Federal Court Judge Simon Noel, in 2006 CSIS secretly created a special data analysis centre to track potential terrorists.
As well, the spy agency kept information from people not linked to particular threats.
The ruling said CSIS shouldn’t have stored the information as it wasn’t directly related to threats to the security of Canada.
Do you see this as problematic? Do you worry about this kind of surveillance? Are you OK with this data being stored?
