The procedure cost Hector $325,000 dollars, and OHIP denied him any help. He had to raise the funds through donations, and his own savings. It’s called IRE – Irreversible Electroporation, or NanoKnife, and is done all across the US and other countries, but not Canada.
After returning home from a successful surgery, he is now determined to take his fight to the next level. He wants every cancer ward in Canada to offer it.
Should this be available for all Canadians? Should OHIP help cover costs of surgeries Ontario doesn’t offer?
Hector joins the show today to discuss his battle.
