Michelle Daniels family dog Kimbo went missing two months ago. The dog ended up at the Toronto Humane Society, unfortunately by the time the family tracked down the dog, the Humane Society had adopted him out to another family. Daniels father Karl, an 80-year-old with dementia had a close relationship with the dog.
The Humane Society has expressed their sympathy for the family, however states the adoption went through on September 17th, making the dog legally owned by the new family.
Toronto Humane Society executive director Barbara Steinhoff has said “There is nothing we can do. We have no legal right to the dog. We did reach out to the new owner and explain the situation, but they chose not to return the dog and legally, we can’t even release the name of the new owner”
Michelle Daniels says she will take the case to court if she has to.
Who does the dog belong to?
