Art Bastard is a witty and charming portrait of the “Anti-Warhol” New York artist, Robert Cenedella.
The film follows the artist’s six-decade career from his fractured relationship with his father, his critique of the Pop Art movement, and his eventual return as a teacher and mentor at the art school where he began. Cenedella is an interesting subject in his relentless societal critique – he’s the guy who crucified Santa Claus and invented the Nixon dartboard.
The film has its Canadian premiere Friday at Hot Docs.
Guest: Robert Cenedella.
