Motorists will have to find an alternate route if their commute takes them through the Bay and Richmond Streets intersection.
Effective 6:00 a.m. Thursday October 6, it will be off limits to accommodate TTC track and road work, as well as sidewalk repairs.
Westbound traffic on Richmond Street will be forced to detour at Yonge Street. Local traffic will only be able to access parking garages west of Yonge Street.
Alternates to this area include Wellington Street, King Street or Queen Street.
Southbound traffic on Bay Street will be diverted at Queen Street West, and northbound traffic will be diverted at Adelaide Street West.
Only local traffic will be allowed on Bay Street in both directions approaching the intersection, but traffic will not be able to go through the intersection.
Alternates include Church Street, Yonge Street and University Avenue.
Traffic-signal timing on parallel routes is being adjusted, and there is enhanced signage to help with traffic flow as well as to minimize disruptions over the five-day schedule.
Some of the work has been scheduled on a 24/7 basis, with the most disruptive and noisy work to be completed before 11:00 p.m. each night.
The intersection will be reopened Tuesday October 11 at 6:00 a.m.
