There has been a development in the search for a man who allegedly threw a beer can onto the playing field at the Rogers Centre on Tuesday night when the Toronto Blue Jays were taking on the Baltimore Orioles in the American League wild-card game.
Following the release of a photo by Toronto police on Wednesday afternoon of a man that they had identified as the can tosser, Post Media has confirmed to the Toronto Sun that the man in the photo is Ken Pagan, a journalist working for the company.
It’s reported that Pagan has spoken to Toronto police but that no charges have yet been laid.
It’s also being reported that Pagan has been advised by his Lawyer not to talk about the incident but that he has made suggestions that maybe the Toronto police have gotten this wrong, stating that he had been drinking out of a cup and not a can.
The can was thrown from the left field stands as Baltimore Orioles outfielder Hyun Soo Kim was attempting to make a catch during the seventh inning, prompting outrage both in Canada and in the U.S.
The publication of the photo came just hours after the Toronto Blue Jays issued a statement, apologizing to the entire Baltimore Orioles organization and to Major League Baseball for what they refer to as ”this embarrassing incident.”
The Toronto Blue Jays have also pledged to ”enact heightened security measures and alcohol policies that will ensure the fan experience and safety of everybody involved.”
