More and more kids in the GTA are driven to and from school. There are safety and distance factors that come into play. But for the most part, it’s much easier for parents to just simply drop their kids off in the “drive thru lane” in the front of the school and then go straight to work.
Does your child’s school have a program in place to encourage walking or biking to school?
Some schools have noticed this growing trend and have started to do something about it.
“As more and more kids walk, they don’t get to school lethargic. They don’t get to school tired, they’re more alert, they’re more awake, and they’re more prepared to learn.” – Christian Fazzini, Phys-Ed Teacher
Toronto Phys-Ed Teacher Christian Fazzini has created an initiative that motivates kids to walk to school. On the last Friday of every month, children are excited to bike and walk to St. Raphael Catholic School for their monthly “Walk to School Day” manifested by Fazzini.
Fazzini joins Kheiriddin on the show.
