We could be seeing a gas shortage around the GTA. The National Energy Board is concerned about the 15 year old pipelines running through Montreal and Nanticoke. In order to be safe and take caution, the NEB ordered Trans-Northern Pipelines Inc. to lessen the flow of oil by 10%.
This may not mean increased gas prices but could result in gas shortages across the GTA.
This caused by TNPI not following through Safety Orders issued in 2009 and 2010. In a recent news release, the NEB stated, “Trans-Northern Pipelines Inc. (TNPI) has not satisfied all conditions set out in those Safety Orders and has had 11 overpressure incidents since 2010.”
