The taxi driver who was caught on camera hitting a cyclist on a busy Toronto street in August is set to appear at Old City Hall 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Ali Farkhondehfall, 57, of Thornhill was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and assault with a weapon
The driver made headlines at the end of August when police were investigating the collision on Bay Street south of Bloor Street.
Video captured by a nearby witness showed a man riding beside the taxi on a bicycle. The cyclist was seen hitting the side of the cab with his hand, and the taxi then swerved towards the bike, forcing the cyclist off the road. The man toppled off his bicycle and landed on the sidewalk.
Police said the “road rage” incident began several blocks south of Bloor near Gerrard Street. Both men were travelling north on Bay when the cyclist allegedly reached into the taxi and assaulted the driver.
The cyclist, Baldeep Cheema, 31, of Brampton was charged with assault and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 17.
