The Toronto Blue Jays will look to clinch a playoff spot in the final game of the season when they visit Boston to play the Red Sox at 3:05 p.m.
Aaron Sanchez will go to the mound for Toronto and he will pitch against former Blue Jay David Price.
A win today for the Jays would give them the first wild card spot, but a loss could complicate things where they would go into a tie for the second wild card depending on whether or not both Baltimore and Detroit win or lose.
Toronto’s worst case scenario would be a three-way tie with the Baltimore Orioles and Detroit Tigers.
The Jays have been named team A and they have selected the option to host the first of the tie-breaker games with a game against the Tigers in Toronto on Tuesday, October 4th.
If they win, they will go on to play the wild card game, but if they lose they would play the Orioles in Baltimore on Wednesday, October 5th and they would need to win to assure themselves a spot in the wild card game.
Either way, this is not the final game of the season for the Toronto Blue Jays.
