Vancouver landlord “Sunny” has apologized after a rental ad he posted to Craigslist drew angry response and ridicule from the public.
“People took it the wrong way,” Sunny told CTV News here. “We just put it up there so that we can not be like the other landlords where they have 500 people apply, and they hold them back from applying everywhere else.”
Sunny’s online ad was for a two-bedroom basement suite just minutes away from the SkyTrain and Commercial Drive.
He was only seeking “REALLY special tenants.”
“Our ideal tenant would not cook much (only because the smell travels upstairs directly into our living room) and we are vegetarians so we don’t like the smell of meat either.”
“Yes I know I’m asking for a lot but what the hey…”
The unit contains no laundry. Internet, TV, hydro and on-site parking are not included.
Sunny’s ad was removed just days after it was posted.
