A double shooting downtown Wednesday afternoon, has resulted in the Special Investigations Unit being called in.
Just after 3:30 p.m., a criminal defense lawyer was leaving his office located at 23 Bedford Road, in the Bloor Street and Avenue Road area, when he was shot by an unknown man, reportedly wearing a construction vest, in the driveway.
Halton Regional police officers were working undercover in the area, conducting surveillance, and one of the officers shot at the 51 year old suspect, who underwent surgery and remains in serious condition.
The lawyer, 66 year old, believed to be J.Randall Barrs, remains in hospital recovering from gunshot wounds to the legs.
Anyone with information is being asked to call police.
