A National Post investigation has shows that in 2015 there was a total of 1,190 TTC delays that were at least 2 minutes in length between September to November. That’s 5 days, or 7,301 minutes in total, that commuters wasted. But what’s causing these delays?
The biggest cause was actual TTC customers. The close second cause was mechanical/infrastructure, and other causes involve security, false alarms, fire, crew/operator, signal, unsanitary, and the least common cause – weather.
Jessica Bell, Executive Director of TTCriders joined the show to discuss:
What should be done about all these TTC delays? Is the answer simply spending more money on the system? Building a relief line? Charging customers more or subsidizing more? Or are there other avenues the city should explore?
