A strong majority of Canadians feel that political correctness has “gone too far,” a new poll suggests, but over 70 per cent still hold their tongues at least some of the time to avoid offending others.
The Angus Reid Institute survey, conducted online on August 17th using a sample of 1,510 Canadian adults, asked respondents if they agreed or disagreed “that the current climate of outrage over political correctness has just gone too far.”
According to the poll 76% of respondents agree political correctness has gone too far. 82% of Canadians over 55 share that view, compared to 78% between 35-54. 67% of those who are 18-34 also agree.
Why are Canadians seemingly hesitant to speak their mind? Do you think we are too politically correct?
