Three Canadians are facing potential life sentences after allegedly attempting to smuggle tens of millions of dollars worth of cocaine into Australia.
63 year old Andre Tamine, 28 year old Isabelle Lagace and 22 year old Melina Roberce were arrested on Sunday in Sydney when the cruise ship they were travelling, the MS Sea Princess in docked in the Australian city.
According to police, some 95 kilograms of the drug was found in luggage belonging to the three.
The haul has been valued at 30 million Canadian dollars and represents the largest seizure in Australia of narcotics carried by passengers of a cruise ship or airliner.
The three did not enter pleas when they were charged and have been ordered to remain in custody until their next court appearance on October 26th.
