Toronto’s four time gold medal winner Penny Oleksiak will likely be front and center as Canada’s Olympic athletes will be celebrated in a homecoming parade in the beaches on Sunday.
Oleksiak returns to her ‘hood as the 16 year old swimmer attended Kew Beach Junior Public School, which is near the planned parade route.
The East-end event honours Team Canada’s strong showing at the 2016 Rio Summer Games in which athletes picked up 22 medals.
Mayor John Tory is expected, and likely to proclaim Sept. 7th as Toronto Olympian and Paralympian Day.
The parade is set for 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning and will starts at Danforth and Woodbine Ave., travelling south along Woodbine to Queen Street East.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in white and red to cheer their athletes along the parade route.
