A devastating earthquake has rocked central Italy.
It struck early Wednesday while most people slept at around 3:30 a.m. local time.
At least 50 people were reported dead but officials expect the death toll to rise.
Rescue crews are continuing to dig through the rubble with their bare hands and shovels in a frantic search for survivors.
The magnitude 6.2 quake was felt as far away as Rome but the hardest hit towns were Amatrice and Accumoli near Rieti.
The mayor of Amatrice, Sergio Pirozzi, said “The town isn’t here anymore.”
