The pair were on the lam in High Park for a number of weeks earlier this year and now the cost of the search for two missing Cabybaras has been revealed.
Bonnie and Clyde, who were new to the High Park Zoo, were being brought into an enclosure on May 25th when they made their escape, sparking the 36 day long search which set the city back approximately $15,000.
The figure was confirmed by the city’s Parks, Forestry and Recreation department on Wednesday.
The large rodent’s escape captured the city’s attention with members of the public joining the search for Bonnie and Clyde, while their adventure spawned numerous memes and social media accounts.
Despite the setting of many traps and placement of lures, it took two weeks for the first Cabybara to be captured. while the second remained on the run until June 28th.
