If you have any packaged oysters at home, you may have to toss them out.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the P.E.I produced oysters may be contaminated with salmonella.
The oysters in question are sold under the brand name Five Star Shellfish and are packaged as “Large Standard Oysters” and “Mixed Oysters.”
The affected products come in 100-piece packages and have a harvest date of August 13.
The CFIA says the oysters were sold in Ontario, Alberta, and Manitoba but may have been distributed to other provinces.
Food contaminated with salmonella may not have a smell or look bad, but can still make anyone who eats it sick.
