Ever wonder where all your money is going?
A study by the Fraser Institute finds the average Canadian family paid $34, 154 in visible and hidden taxes last year.
The Vancouver based think tank says that works out to just over 42% of the average household income, which it estimates at $80,600.
The study’s authors say that amount is more than Canadians spend on housing, food, and clothing combined.
The average bill for income taxes collected by government was $10, 616 last year.
Other taxes Canadians paid in 2015 include payroll and health taxes, property tax, sales tax, liquor and tobacco tax and fuel tax.
