HomeLife Benchmark Realty realtors Linda Shaver and Leanne de Souza heard of 72-year-old Audrey Smith’s death through her widowed husband while canvasing in his neighbourhood. The realtors then took the opporitunity to send a condolence card reading,
“So sorry to hear of your wife’s passing. Please let us know if we can help in any way with your real estate needs when the time is right. Thanks.”
Launi Bowie Smith, the couple’s daughter expressed her disgust over the card by posting a picture of it on Facebook. Since then, it has been shared over 1,000 times.
“They didn’t know my mom and dad. I don’t think it’s appropriate to send a sympathy card to a family you don’t know,” she said. “It’s hard to look at this as anything but a solicitation for business.”
What do you think? Was this in bad taste, or was it just sales?
