The terrible news of a 10 year old Toronto boy’s death shook the city this weekend. He was swept away into deep waters and drowned at Constance Bay beach in Ottawa despite his 21-year-old brother’s attempt to save him.
In any situation such as this, people want answers. Who is to blame? Why did this happen? How can we prevent it from happening again?
The first thing that comes to mind is “where were the parents?” However in this case, do they really deserve any blame? Why wasn’t there any warning signs on the beach? How could anyone who was not local to the area know about sudden drops in depth? What about a life guard?
