A Toronto man, sentenced to 10 years in prison for making and distributing child pornography has seen his sentence reduced, due to abuse he suffered at the hands of prison guards at a detention facility.
Brian Way was convicted in May of 2015 of making, possessing, publishing, distributing, exporting, and importing child pornography.
8,000 videos and nearly 200,000 images were seized by police during a 2011 raid on Way’s Etobicoke video business.
He has been in custody since his arrest in 2011.
Six months has now been knocked off Way’s sentence due to both verbal and physical abuse inflicted upon him by guards at the Metro Toronto West Detention Centre.
It’s said that the abuse took place at the centre two years ago.
Way had recently testified that he had been made to strip and “pirouette like a ballet dancer.”
He also claimed at the sentencing hearing that he had been left naked in a cell, punched in the face by a guard and “sexually assaulted” by a court officer.
Way had initially asked for a stay of his conviction.
