The International Olympic Committee has decided not to ban Russian athletes from the summer games in Rio Di Janeiro.
According to the IOC, global federations will now be given the responsibility to decide which Russian athletes are accepted or participate in certain sports.
Meantime, Russian whistleblower Yulia Stepanova was rejected by the IOC in her attempt to attend the Rio 2016 Olympics as a neutral athlete.
The IOC also opted not to take action on a significant ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Thursday, which upheld the ban on Russia’s track and field teams.
The Rio 2016 Olympic Games take place on August 5th to August 21st, which is now less than two weeks away from the opening ceremonies.
