It’s a warning parents hear over and over. Never leave a child alone in a hot car.
Officers were called out to a Markham Costco around 8 p.m., on Tuesday night after getting reports of a child trapped in a car.
Upon arrival, police determined the child needed to be rescued and ended up smashing the vehicle’s window to get the child out.
The baby girl was placed in a cruiser to cool down and was checked over by paramedics who determined she was in good condition.
Police say she had been in the hot car for around 45 minutes.
The parents have been charged for leaving a child unattended under the Child and Family Services Act.
The baby has been returned to her parents.
