A man arrested in connection with a fatal assault near St. Lawrence Market on Monday night, is now facing a charge of manslaughter.
Police were called to the scene in the area of Front and Market Streets shortly before 9.30.p.m., following reports of a street fight.
A man was found with what police described as a ‘significant head injury’ and was transported to hospital without vital signs.
He was pronounced dead a short time later.
The victim was identified by police on Tuesday as 50 year old Paul Crombie, of no fixed address.
Shortly after being called to the scene, Toronto police confirmed that one person had been taken into custody in connection with the attack.
43 year Levon Jolen Gammon, also of no fixed abode, made his fist appearance in court on Tuesday to face that charge of manslaughter.
