Baton Rouge saw more bloodshed yesterday, this time three police officers were shot and killed by 29 year old Gavin Long. Long was a decorated veteran who served in the U.S Marines, and he was black, as was one of the officers he killed.
The war between the police and the public is growing at an unnerving rate, and the question of who is the victim is quickly becoming blurred. Is the alleged racism by the cops being mirrored by the prejudice of the public, on police officers?
With no argument, it is easy to say all of the lives that have been lost matter, whether behind a badge, or a pigment of skin. What is not so easy to conclude is what will happen next, and what this means for security.
