Toronto police have provided an update on an investigation into an alleged drug trafficking ring.
In a press release on Thursday afternoon, investigators revealed 27 people arrested as part of the so called ‘Project Beyond,’ while nearly 300 kilograms of ‘various controlled substances,’ eight firearms and more than $2.3 million in cash were also seized.
Police allege the criminal organization was led by Kevin Er and involved in the distribution, trafficking and export of drugs in both Toronto and York Region. the organization stretched beyond The GTA into the U.S. and other countries.
Superintendant Gordon Sneddon says the value of the drugs seized had a street value in excess of $14 million. The drugs police seized include cocaine, Marijuana, Crystal meth, Liquid Opium, MDMA, Ketamine, Psilocybin and a seizure of Fentanyl in the New York.
Police also took 8 firearms and 1,400 rounds of ammunition off the street including a tec-9 along with a silencer and an AR-15 rifle.
Police called it a sophisticated organization and say they’ve made a significant dent in their organization.
York Regional Police and the Canada Border Services Agency were also involved in the investigation along with London Police.
