Good news if you have an electric car or have plans of getting one.
The province is building nearly 500 electric vehicle charging stations across Ontario.
The government hopes the network of new stations will encourage more residents to use electric vehicles and will help address “range anxiety.”
With the new network of stations, electric vehicle drivers will be able to travel from Windsor to Ottawa or from Toronto to North Bay and within and around major urban centres.
“By investing in charging infrastructure that is fast, reliable and affordable, we are encouraging more Ontarians to purchase electric vehicles, reducing greenhouse gas pollution and keeping our air clean.” said Steven Del Duca, Minister of Transportation.
The stations will be placed at more than 250 locations including highways, workplaces and public spaces.
They should be ready for service by the end of March next year.
There are 7,000 electric vehicles currently on the road in Ontario.
