Safety is up for discussion at the TTC Board meeting on Monday.
Officials will be looking at how to make transit safer for everyone with a focus on women.
Thirty-five women reported being sexually assaulted or harassed on the TTC in just the first five months of this year.
That works out to one woman every four days.
The TTC has some safety measures in place already. Passengers who take the bus at night can be dropped off between stops.
There are also designated waiting areas on platforms that provide access to an intercom that can connect riders with station operators.
CEO Andy Byford says the TTC is in the process of creating an app that would automatically turn off flash and sound so an alleged assailant wouldn’t know they were being reported.
The safety meeting will also look at its workforce. Only 15% of TTC employees are women while nearly 60% of its riders are female.
