A traffic stop in Minnesota has claimed the life of a black man after police officers opened fire on Wednesday evening.
The St. Anthony Police Department held a news conference early Thursday morning to brief the media on the incident, which took place around 9 p.m. local time.
Authorities say the victim is 32-year-old, Philando Castile, who would go on to die in hospital a short time later. He was pulled over for a busted tail light.
Investigators have indicated that one fire arm was recovered and there were no other injuries that have been reported.
The officer involved in the incident has been put on standard pay with administrated leave.
