Ticketmaster is paying you back for customer service fees they were withholding or profiting from, by offering you free concerts or small discounts. But these concerts are very far from you. And they’re with artists some wouldn’t even want to see for free.
Ticketmaster was taken to court in 2013 by two men who brought up the issue and now the ticket seller is owing millions of dollars to anybody who bought a ticket between October 1999-February 2013. However, they’re not giving you tickets to your favorite artist, and they’re not giving 50% vouchers to any convert – they’re offering tickets to concerts like Slightly Stupid and Darius Rucker at a venue 400km away from you.
Ticketmaster will need to offer back 400 million dollars over 4 years. But it seems like very few people will actually take advantage of the unattractive offers.
