The woman accused of assaulting a Muslim woman in a London supermarket last month is in hospital receiving treatment for a mental health issue.
The case returned to court on Thursday morning however the accused did not make an appearance.
Her lawyer spoke on her behalf and relayed the information that she had been hospitalized.
The charge stems from an incident which took place on June 20th when investigators say a Muslim woman was grocery shopping with her four-month-old son.
It’s alleged that she was approached by a woman she didn’t know, who spat on her, punched her several times, grabbed her hijab and pulled her hair before fleeing the scene.
The unnamed woman was arrested the next day following an appeal to the public for assistance in identifying her.
She is scheduled to appear in court again on August 4th.
