Metrolinx says for safety reasons, a slow order has been issued for GO Transit and UP Express trains between 2-6pm today.
The delays are due to the warm temperatures and will cause minor delays
The train speed will be cut by about 24 km/h which could add about 10 minutes to the average trip.
The reason for the slow order is because when temperatures reach over 30 degrees Celsius there can be “sun kinks’ in the steel rails.
Metrolinx released a pair of videos to help commuters understand why the delays are happening and what they’re doing to reduce and minimize their frequency.
