Some people forced to leave their homes following a fatal house explosion in Mississauga on Tuesday afternoon will be allowed to return to their homes tonight.
In a news release issued on Wednesday evening, police say that the perimeter of the explosion has now been reduced.
Peel police are asking those that have been displaced to call 905-453-3311 ext. 1241 and say an officer will be available at this number 24 hours a day.
Residents will be asked to identify to the officer what residence/unit number they are from and the officer will then advise if they can return to their home.
Police are thanking people affected for their patience and are asking for further patience from community members who will not be able to access their homes on Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, the investigation into the blast which completely leveled one home and caused extensive damage to six others continues.
Speaking on Wednesday afternoon, Jeff Minton of the Ontario Fire Marshall said it may be ”some time” before residents of homes nearest the blast site will be allowed home.
